DroneEye Safety Guidelines
Prepared by counsel specializing in aviation compliance, digital marketplaces, and operator safety.
DroneEye provides a marketplace connecting clients and drone pilots for aerial missions. The following guidelines outline the operational, regulatory, and behavioral standards expected from all platform participants. While DroneEye builds tools that encourage professionalism and transparency, all users remain independently responsible for the safety, legality, and compliance of their own operations.
These guidelines apply to all users operating within the DroneEye platform.
1. Pilot Qualification & Certification Requirements
1.1 Verified Licensing
All pilots must hold valid drone certifications required by their jurisdiction (e.g., A1/A3, A2, or Specific Category licenses in the EU; Part 107 in the U.S., or local equivalents).
Pilots may upload certifications to their profiles for visibility. DroneEye does not verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy or authenticity of any submitted document. Pilots remain solely responsible for maintaining valid certifications and compliance with all applicable regulations.
1.2 Equipment Certification & Airworthiness
Pilots must register all drones they intend to operate, provide serial numbers, and upload insurance documentation where applicable.
Drones must be maintained in airworthy condition, with firmware updates installed and batteries properly serviced.
1.3 Operational Competency
Pilots must demonstrate knowledge of:
- airspace restrictions
- no-fly zones
- emergency procedures
- environmental limitations (wind, rain, visibility)
- safe takeoff and landing protocols
Failure to adhere to these standards may result in suspension or removal.
2. Mission Safety Standards
2.1 Pre-Flight Assessment
Every mission must include a documented pre-flight check:
- weather review
- site risk assessment
- verification of people, animals, or obstacles near the flight area
- verification of pilot equipment readiness
2.2 Mission Brief Accuracy
Clients must provide accurate and complete mission details. Providing misleading information can jeopardize safety and violate local regulations.
2.3 Communication Protocols
DroneEye provides a Mission Chat for all operational communication. This ensures:
- clear instructions
- transparent agreements
- documented decision-making
- a traceable record in case of disputes or incidents
Off-platform agreements are discouraged for safety reasons.
3. Operational Restrictions
3.1 Prohibited Activities
DroneEye forbids:
- flying beyond legal visual line of sight (unless authorized)
- entering restricted or controlled airspace without explicit permission
- flying over crowds, schools, or sensitive infrastructure
- transporting illegal materials
- night flights without proper authorization and equipment
3.2 Privacy Protection
Pilots must not capture imagery of private property, individuals, or vehicles without legal justification or client authorization. Clients must ensure missions comply with privacy laws in their region.
4. Compliance With Local & International Regulations
DroneEye operates globally; therefore:
- All missions must conform to regional aviation laws.
- Pilots are responsible for obtaining any additional permits required.
- Clients must confirm that requested missions are lawful and not in violation of state or regional drone frameworks.
DroneEye reserves the right to decline missions that present regulatory or safety risks.
Warning: Consequences of Unauthorised Flight
Operating a drone in restricted, prohibited, or controlled airspace without explicit authorisation from the competent authority is a serious offence in virtually all jurisdictions worldwide. Consequences may include: criminal prosecution and imprisonment; substantial monetary fines; civil liability for all resulting damages; confiscation and destruction of equipment; permanent revocation of pilot licences and certifications; and personal liability for third-party injuries or property damage. DroneEye does not verify airspace authorisations, flight legality, or regulatory compliance. Every pilot is independently and solely responsible for ensuring the legality of every flight.
5. Insurance & Liability
5.1 Pilot Insurance Requirements
All pilots operating through the DroneEye platform must carry adequate liability insurance as required by the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which they operate. Insurance must cover, at minimum, third-party property damage and personal injury arising from drone operations. Pilots are solely responsible for ensuring their insurance is valid, current, and sufficient for each specific mission they undertake. Operating without adequate insurance may constitute a legal offence in many jurisdictions and exposes the pilot to unlimited personal civil liability. DroneEye does not verify insurance coverage and bears no responsibility for uninsured or underinsured operations.
5.2 Client Responsibilities
Clients must acknowledge and accept all environmental, logistical, and operational risks associated with their mission request. DroneEye does not guarantee any mission outcomes, the quality of work delivered, the accuracy of information provided by pilots, or the suitability of any pilot for any mission. DroneEye provides a marketplace and communication tools only — nothing more.
5.3 Platform Liability
DroneEye acts solely as a mission marketplace and communication facilitator. DroneEye is not the aircraft operator, employer, or supervisor of any pilot, and does not control or direct the performance of any mission. DroneEye expressly disclaims all liability and is not responsible for:
- pilot operational errors, negligence, or misconduct
- equipment malfunctions, failures, or accidents
- unlawful missions initiated or performed by clients or pilots
- unauthorized modifications to Mission Briefs outside the platform
- personal injury, death, or property damage arising from any mission
- inaccurate, false, or misleading information provided by any user
- failure to complete a mission or deliver expected results
- any losses, damages, or consequences of any kind resulting from missions arranged through the Platform
DroneEye does not guarantee mission outcomes, the accuracy of user-provided information, or the suitability of any pilot for any mission. All users participate entirely at their own risk. DroneEye may assist in facilitating communication regarding disputes but has no obligation to resolve them and cannot override the legal responsibility held by the parties involved.
6. Reporting Incidents & Violations
If a pilot or client identifies:
- unsafe behavior
- regulatory violations
- damaged equipment
- environmental hazards
- privacy complaints
- harassment or abusive communication
They must immediately report it via the Safety Report System inside the platform.
DroneEye may, at its sole discretion, investigate reported incidents and, if warranted:
- suspend accounts
- notify affected users
- assist regulatory authorities if legally required
- update safety standards
7. Continuous Safety Improvement (Platform Roadmap)
DroneEye may introduce platform features designed to support informed decision-making, such as:
7.1 Automated Certification Tracking
The platform may send optional reminders when uploaded documents approach their stated expiry dates. These reminders are provided as a courtesy and do not constitute monitoring, verification, or any assumption of responsibility.
7.2 Mission Risk Scoring
Algorithmic tools that surface relevant information, including:
- weather
- location density
- altitude requirements
- pilot experience level
to help users make more informed decisions. These tools are informational only and do not constitute safety assessments, guarantees, or endorsements.
7.3 Secure Data Storage
Encrypted communication, secure document handling, and transparent access logs to protect mission information.
7.4 Safety Education Programs
Pilot-focused training modules:
- emergency procedures
- privacy law
- airspace compliance
- communication best practices
7.5 Transparency Tools
Clients will see:
- pilot-submitted certification details
- document upload date
- equipment category

Pilots will see:
- client rating
- mission clarity score
- safety flags
- history of disputes
